I'm really worried ...

I'm a heavy work out person. I usually lift and do cardio 4 times per week. Last Friday, I got put in the hospital because my CPK was high (previous threads about this). Apparently I had caused muscle breakdown. I did feel fine though.

Well, a week later, my CPK is back to normal, but about three days ago my muscles starting hurting. They started feeling weak, mainly in my legs. I went to the doctor who said "Your blood work is fine... I can't think of why they would hurt. Maybe its a virus like the flu." and sent me home.

Today I woke up and it seems a bit worse. I'm not tripping over things or anything, but my muscles do really hurt in my legs, mainly when I'm walking.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? Could this be from the muscle breakdown a week ago and its just starting to be noticable to me now? Could this be because I usually do a lot of walking at work and a lot of working out and this week I haven't done much of anything?

The best way to describe how I feel is: I feel like I ran five miles 5 days in a row... my muscles feel "achy" like that.

Thanks,

Matt

EDITED for a more constructive response,

Consult another physician if you're that worried, otherwise give it a little time and see if the feeling subsides. How has your diet been lately? That could be playing a role in the situation.

in a nut shell...we don't care, make real friends and start getting advice from people certified to give it to you.

That was kind of harsh...
At least it's not a YAGT. We should encourage this kind of behavior, then help him redirect his energies to even more productive threads.

Maybe you're right and I was a little too harsh, but it also makes me laugh at the mod quote you have in your sig.

Sheesh, lighten up Freud. He asked a valid question and you don't have to be so rude.

I think you just burned yourself out and need to relax. I am not exactly into 'working out' but from what I hear, my friends do get weary and feel fatigued if they haven't been to the gym in a while. Walk around a little bit and gradually work your way back to form. But take it slow - sounds like your muscle breakdown took its toll on your general health.

Your body is used to being active - but don't rush back into it. If its serious and goes on for some time, maybe some physiotherapy (or just therapeutic massages)?

You are probably right. I think I just get overparanoid. Mainly, my next door neighbor just got diagnosed with ALS. I'm only 23, but of course in the same week I'm having muscle weakness, I guess my paranoid human mind wanders. But this is muscle aching and weakness all over my body, practically overnight, which usually doesn't happen with muscular disorders. This time a week and a half ago (before the hospital) I felt fine, and was working out fine no problems.

Thank you for your opinion.

Diet is OK. I lost 10 pounds in the hospital, but thats because I ate hospital food for days straight. Since then, mainly grilled chicken and such. I ate some meat last night (beef).

My muscles feel like that all the time when I work to much or do to much. I pushed myself to much working on my new place in the last two days. My body hurts so bad I can barely get up and walk around. Just sitting here everything hurts and is super tight. I dont know what could cause it but I've always had muscle problems.

Yeah but ... I haven't actually done anything to make them hurt... they just do. They are numb and hurt. Its just ...... troublesome.

dude just get a physical check up

sleep 8 hours a day for the next 1 month. the pain and stress should go away soon.

you need to match calories in = calories out and eat healthy food

I remember working insane shifts on crazy hours and used to eat a LOT of junk food. I could feel my heart having a hard time pumping blood even at my young college age.

stretch a lot, your muscles have to be able to support the work that is being put on it. you don't need protein powder or anything like that, if you eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and grains like bread, rice and drink water a lot, you should be fine.

don't feel bad, most people who think about getting cancer are the ones who actually get cancer, studies show. so the mind is key.

feel better when you do the work. but don't think reality is going to be kind all the time. just be positive and don't slack off.

I stole the mod quote from a YAMGT. 😉

I'm still worried. Went to the doctors today and she is doing blood work for some things like Lyme and such.

She says I'm too young for things like ALS or MS.... but that if they rule everything else out, etc. etc.

Anyway......still worried 🙁
