I'm really worried about Pixar's Wall-E.

Wall-E reminds me a little more of ET than Johnny 5. Small body, large abdomen, flat head, big eyes. I guess it could go either way.

I'm looking forward to Wall-E, in that it'll be something different. Cars wasn't very good for me, but Rat and the Incredibles were awesome. I think that the concept for Wall-E could make for a great movie, but my impulse is to think that a cartoon trying to pull off a potentially weighty subject is doomed to fail. Maybe pixar can pull it off though. I'll definitely see it.

I see more Johnny 5 in him. Shame they have to try and ruin the Short Circuit name.

Not sure where you came up with $620 million.

$206,445,654 Domestic gross. Lowest of all Pixar films.

Total US Gross $206,445,654
International Gross $410,800,000
Worldwide Gross $617,245,654

Most Hollywood studios would love to have the numbers that PIXAR's "flops" have.

Also, I suspect WALL-E will have much greater opportunities in licensing that Ratatouille. I thought the movie was great, but there is only so much that toy companies can do with rat themes. Robots, on the other hand, rock when it comes to that sort of thing.

The Incredibles is my favorite thus far, and I would love to see a sequel to it if they could equal or surpass the original.

I'm not exactly sure how $620 million dollars in theatrical gross constitutes a "flop".

Gross
$244,052,771 (USA) (15 October 2006)

What blows my mind is how you can spend 120 mil on an animated movie. That's a ridiculous budget considering movies like Rush Hour had a budget of about 1/3 of that and they blow shit up and have a lot of scenery.

It takes a lot longer - years to make an animated movie vs a few months for a regular movie. There's your cost..

the cost of running the computer farms, keeping them running, and all of the equipment used to maintain them, is probably a part of that budget. Animators put a lot of time into the movie too, both the sketch artists and the computer animators. And voice actors get a decent paycheck in the end too.

Can't beleieve that I have not seen Incredibles. I will agree Cars was a little slow, but I liked it, and Ratatouille was awesome.
Have not seen this latest trailer for Wall-E that says its a love story, but the other two trailers I saw were cool.
