I just recently put together a new rig for my friend
AXP 1800+
Samsung PC2700 CAS 2.5 512mb DDR
Winfast Leadtek ti 4200
Maxtor ATA 133 80g 7200 rpm
2themax 8k5A2+ mobo (based totally on the epox one)
NEC 24/18/48 CD-RW
Sound blaster live 5.1 OEM (some cheapo thing)
Enermax 365w Power Supply

Okay, so i put the thing together, works like a charm
And now i start to boot into WinXP Setup

All the drivers load fine
and then it comes to "Setup is starting windows"
(This is before the license agreement)
and it just hangs there for -i dunno how long- (3 hrs)
and nothing happens
i tap the numlock key, ..nothign happens

I plug the floppy drive back in and try again, but it gives me several errors (BSODs)
1st) (forgot exact wording) Page fault in a Non-Paged area
2nd) IRQL_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL (forgot exact wording)

The thing is, ive already gone back to the shop (like 40mins of transportation away) 3 times in the last 2 days each time testing differnet parts
so far...
The mobo, ram, vdo card, cpu and hard drive have been tested and its fine...
only thing that i havent tested is the power supply and the cdrom (at the shop)

SOMEHOW it works at the shop under default bios settings, but not at home.
Im really out of ideas
What would be the symptoms of a faulty power supply/cdrom?
Could that stop my installation of winxp?

Thanks to all who reply in advance, i really appreciate it

Wow, that is the same problem, but I don't get BSOD's. You have a different mother board but similar vid card and setup besides that.

Nope i dont have access to a different CDrom, but apparently it works at the shop (using his cdrom) without a hitch..

Im 50% sure its not hte CDrom, cuz the drivers load perfectly and the bios detects the cdrom fine...
im just not so sure about that power supply..

Then again i could just be too n00b and it could be the cd

*edit* sometimes i dont get the BSODs
sometimes i do

I would really give the RAM switch a try. I have a stick of 256 PC133 that tests good on a tester but has clobbered my attempts to load WIN XP before testing the RAM, and then recently thinking it had tested good, clobbered another comp with failed downloads. Downloads that look good and then disappear after reboot - wierd stuff. trashed that stick of RAM and everything was OK.

I gave it a try with some old ddr pc2100 ram
and it still doesnt work
however, i dont have access to a good power supply right now -_- so i cant test

Just cuz my PSU is Enermax doesnt mean it cant be faulty right? cuz the storeowner gave some BS at me that this "enermax psu is very high quality and im 100% sure that its not hte power supply problem"

Hmm... I sometimes get "Page fault in a Non-Paged area"
Always thought it was the bios writing in the ram reserved for hibernation.

Im glad that im not the only one seeing this problem (at least it means im not n00b, or else we all ar 😱 )
But has anyone that has encountered this managed to fix it?
