I'm really impressed with my BFG 6600GT OC's

I was holding out like everyone for a single 6800GT pci-e later to add another. I finally got fed up and bought
2 BFG 6600GT OC's. These things run flawlessly. I know I'm kind of late on the whole HL2 thing but this is the first time I have ever played it. Its very good so far. I am able to run very smoothly at 1280x1024 with all settings on high. I haven't tried 1600x1200, but that is up next. Kudos to BFG again. I know you might say why 2 6600GT's, here is my rationale. I can easily play any games out now and for the rest of the year most likely. The 6800 core has been out for about a year so it is likely we will see some new nvidia cards this year. So I will enjoy my 6600gt's now and then skip over the 6800 series to the newer series and sell my 6600gt's on ebay. I have had good luck with this strategy in the past and I'm not wasting a ton of time monitoring the websites for good 6800gt deals. Instead I'm playing this really great game.

Congratulations. I had returned two Leadtek 6600GTs I got for SLI thinking I could get a 6800 GT PCIe for the same price, but boy was I mistaken. I regret ever doing that now, even though it was sort of bottlenecked. I ended up ordering a $340 GeForce 6800 PCIe card today.

Why bother with two 6600GTs, why not a X800 XT? I thought they were pretty easy to find and will outperform the SLI with 1/2 the power and noise. Just a thought.

1/32 the power and noise? I want some of whatever you're smoking because it's gotta be some good stuff.

Also, I've seen benchmarks showing that the 6800NU 256MB PCI-E cards that are currently all over the market perform no faster than a single 6600GT.

The 6800 NUs (AGP or PCI Express) do not perform all that much faster then the 6600GTs with no aa/af and lower resolutions

FYYI, the 6600/6800(GT,NU,U) are all apart of the Geforce 6 series

Why did you type this? I said I was skipping over the 6800 series, meaning the current high end card. I know they are in the same family.

Yeah but you get a shot at pipe unlocking, no?
And obviously once more demanding games come out the 6800 will likely do far better...

Have you tried any AA/AF? I have an older 17" monitor and I thought a 6600GT would be in my range without having to pay alot more for a new monitor also. I have a Radeon 9000 right now. Could the 6600GT do 1024x768 4xAA/8xAF?
