I'm really freaking pissed off at my insurance company!

I tell them the honest truth about an accident and they will repair only some of the damage!

There are a few cracks/dents in my bumper that they are going to fix (minus my $200 deductible), but there is a scrape/gouge to the paint on the rear-quarter panel that sits just above the bumper and the adjuster says "that's not from the same accident. You have to file another claim for that".

WTF?!?!? This is such BS, and it's not like I can switch to another company because we have government insurance. I'm stuck with this garbage.

FSCK!

So you told them it was from a separate accident and now they're making you follow the rules?

If that's the case, you just learned a lesson, for a $200 fee.

I told them it was from the same incident (which it was) and they don't believe me.

Why don't they believe you? Isn't there any other damage there?

There is a gap of about 1 foot between the damage to the bumper and the quarter panel. I told him I can understand that it looks strange and I assured him I was telling the truth, but he refused to accept the possibility that it was from the same incident.

all companies will work that way.
You could have tried to say it was from the same thing, but they(adjusters) are trained to know if it is the truth or not.

edit to say when you think about it... people could have several accidents, wait for a few months, year to claim them all on one. That is not right either.

I am sorry you have to go through that.

I just hope it won't cost too much to have repaired, it's a pretty deep scratch. If it's more than the deductible I'm going right back to the insurance company.
