I just about ready to go ahead and order a Retail Radeon 64mb VIVO from Newegg for $159 with free shipping. I have a leadtek Geforce 2pro but the fan quit working and after I replaced the fan I still see spots in the corners of my screen and it looks like it is snowing in UT.I mainly use my computer for internet, word, and some light gaming. I also watch DVD's, but 2d quality is the most important to me. So =am I making a wise choice ? Is $159 a good price

Good choice i guess. Had you geforce overclocked? Seems strange that it would show abnormalites otherwise. I own a geforce2mx and im not impressed about the 2d performance. 3d is hm..value for the money but the dvd capabilities and mpeg1,2 is not good. Good for you you can afford a radeon.

The Radeon 64mb ViVo would be a great choice considering your applications. Go here for additional knowledge- Link

When it comes to games I usally only play RPG like FF 7-8 so FPS is not really that inportant to me, visual quality is more important. And no my Gforce 2 is actually under clocked to 175/333 just so the spots would go away. I think I damaged the core because when I noticed the fan was not working I was running it @ 250/400 and it started to crash whenever I played a game so when I took the side off and touched the heatsink I actually got burned, I mean blister and all !

I think people make a big stink about the Radeon without much merit. Go to rage3d.com and you'll see PLENTY of happy people.

Oh no, if I "only" get 75fps opposed to 78 my life won't be over. And BTW, the Radeon will destroy most Geforce cards when running in 32 bit, which is all I run these days. And the visual quality is damn impressive.

The vivo sounds nice. I saved some money and got the LE for 80 bucks, but if you want the input and outputs plus the extra memory, plus the satisfaction of it being a "real" radeon then that seems like a good price.
