It works but in the farcry demo there is absolutely no difference except for fast fps. Then the ground is all different colors like black and red on high settings just like my 6600 vanilla. And in DOOM3 on ultra settings on 12x10 its not that smooth. But on 3dmark03 i scored 16000. Is there something wrong?

and also in the farcry demo it autoconfigues on everything on low settings. whats up with that? And in DOOM3 it auto configues to what I had with my 6600 vanilla. Same thing with FEAR. I dont know whats going on. I kinda feel like I wasted money...

Wait until HL2: Lost Coast.

Mid-range: Around Radeon 9800, Radeon X700, GeForce 5950, GeForce 6600 - playable at 800x600 with AA turned off

Bleeding-edge: GeForce 7800 - playable at 1600x1200 with full AF

Its one level man its like people wait for games that they can only play on high settings not for the actual game or gameplay but to just say "I can run this full you cant" .

whats your system like? cpu? ram?

sure you havent got AA and AF stuck on a high setting in the control panel?

ultra settings on doom may not be all that smooth since it is reserved for 512mb cards to work properly. and FEAR is a bitch of a stressful game, at the moment the demo will lay some smack down on even 7800's in SLI

Ive got a 3500+ and 1gb or ram. Doom 3 on ultra is running fine now. I guess I had it overclocked too high. BF2 is worlds better!

Also you might want to make sure you clear the cache of the games. For instance, they might be thinking you still have the 6600. BF2 would optimize itself for different cards for instance and might not be taking the different architecture into consideration.

Make sure and use Driver Cleaner when installing a new driver as well.

Your problem is the DEMO. The demo of the game was released before, long before the 7800 GTX and cannot properly detect the card. Also, there are some texturing issues with the demo and the 7800 GTX. If you purchase the retail version of the game and patch it to 1.33 (I think that is the latest) you will have nothing but gaming goodness.

Edit ** in addition, not only did the new 7 series have the problem, but so did much of the 6 series of cards. It is the demo, not the card. Purchase Far Cry, it is only, what 20 bucks now? Definitely worth it.

Edit 2 ** I am not sure why your other games would be stuttering more... I am guessing perhaps the BIOS patch for your motherboard isn't a complete fix. The card is faster than your 6600, easily. So, do not blame the card and it was not a waste of money. The problem is likely your system. You can certain do an OS reinstall, it would not be a bad idea... But, it has been my experience that it is not needed when staying with the same graphics card. Meaning, you had nVidia, and you replaced with nVidia, therefore, the existing drivers should have detected the card and install it and be working properly. Even so, I rarely have had a problem going from ATI to nVidia or vice versa. Anyway, fresh install is nice to do anyway.

But my feeling is that something is wrong with the motherboard, it must not be supporting the PCI-E correctly... Who knows, you are going to have to troubleshoot it to find out the problem.

for the 27th time, if you have an nvidia 6 series or up, you need the latest Farcry patch. the demo won't work.
