I'm probably going to jinx the whole thing but...

It's very possible that Barry Bonds will break Hank Aaron's record in LA.

He has three more home games against Florida then SF goes to LA.

Somehow I just think that's perfect. There's no other place on earth that would boo louder or make their displeasure known with as much vigor. His shining moment will be a capped with a chorus of boos.

Kind of a metaphor for his entire career.

I hope he gets boo'd and I hope they throw the ball back when he does break the record. I sure as hell would.

I am pretty sure they will bench him once he gets within 1 HR of the record and let him do it at home.....

i know its not right. but i hope he gets within one and gets a career ending injury.

seems bonds hit 1 homerun. so he is 1 away.

now i hope someone beans him in the head and he has to retire.

You know I dont know why everyone is all up in arms about him taking roids. I mean so many sport figures do it and to be honest who gives a shit! I mean im sure the old players were doing coke etc or something to boost their game. I mean hell Babe Ruth was a known alcoholic and drug user. All the people who are up in arms over this are lame.

Womanizer, asshole, and drunk? Yes.

Drug user? Never heard that before. Hope you have a link to back that up.

And he's not breaking Ruth's record. He's breaking Aaron's record. So go ahead and show us his nefarious past.

No kidding ... I'd boo heartily & keep the ball. 😛

im all for bonds hitting the homer, takes a step out of the box, trips, falls, breaks his knee and has to be taken to the dugout where the homer wont count since he left the field of play. oh, one can dream cant they? well, at least zito is getting the crap kicked outta him... $126 million pfft

Estimates seem to be around $500k, but the real question is about when taxes are due on your new ball...taxes may be due the moment you catch it. The IRS will not comment on this issue.

But if you don't sell it does it add any value to net worth? That answer is no, it's just a baseball before you sell it for 500k

I've got nothing against Barry. Good luck to him.

I do wish Griffey had stayed healthy throughout his career though. It'd be very exciting to see him in the race with Barry right now.

What? They are going to tax something based on estimated value? It's a baseball. Nobody will know how much it's worth until it goes to auction.

I'm with you on that one. Hank Aaron worked so hard and struggled so much to get the last few home runs while Barry just has really good scientists.

EDIT: * (I'm on that train too)

EDIT: If a career ending injury is not in the cards they should just intentionally walk him. I know it's not necessarily up to the pitcher but I would do it anyway. Someone else will pitch to him, I would rather it not be me.
