email --

ok please i want you to know that i am interested in buying this ford
contour SVT from you, so i would like for you to scare away other
buyers. i would have loved to come down and have a look at the car but
as it is i am out at sea right now, you see am a sailor and am in a
ship offshore busy sailing but i could get a friend come over and have
a look at the car. let me know if that will be possible soonest.

after a bit of back and forth... he wants to pay by paypal. It seems fishy. If I accept paypal payment and some guy takes the car. Is there any way to get scammed?

this is the last email ---

ok, i want you to know that i am satisified with the photos i saw in
the ad and the description you have given me as well, all though the
car needs work here and there, i beleive the car is in good working
condition so i will buy this car from you and would love to make
payment immediately so i can have it picked up by a courier agent
soonest. i will have the money sent to you through the safest means
online which is through my Paypal account and as soon as that is done
i will have my courier agent pick the car to my home. my courier agent
will take care of all the necessary paper work upon arrival, so get
back to me with your full name and PayPal account email so i can make
the payment immediately.

"courier"
"safest means"
"make payment immediately"

You really need us to confirm that this is a scam?

Seriously?! You joined here in 2000. That means you've been using a computer for at least 10 years. Is there any way this CAN'T be a scam?! Have you learned nothing in 10+ years being online?

A sailor out at sea has no time to be thinking of deals on shore. The reality of the situation plus the language used confirms a scam.

i got same type of email, i just told him cash only, they wanted to give me bank check, (which seems safer than paypal) but its still prob from a hacked account hahaha. Good luck to you. thnx for the laughs. u can always scam the scammer.. accept the payment and tell him bogus address and then warn the paypal account holder its hacked and if you can have reward =)

If you're selling a car, cash or certified/cashier's check are the only things I'd take. Paypal? Fuck no. I wouldn't take them for a $10 purchase unless I knew the counterparty personally.
