I wouldn't call myself popular just yet. They now consider you the nerd of the school.

Do not mention to people that you are computer literate, or else they will hit you up for tech support all the time.

well, you might not *get* chicks, but at least they'll recognize you when they're drunk on the streets walking with their boyfriends....at least , that's how it is with me

see, i work for my college's tech support, it used to be called "cybersquad" but was recently changed to residential computing (rescom)....

but of course, everyone i see downtown who's computer i've fixed is always like "hey cyberDUDE"....alas

157 actually...

Funny, once i started to think about it, 70% of those users are female... and i have to say that i know all those 152 people, and i mean ALL of them.

/start of final post in this thread

this all kind of reminds me of my high school days...at that point, i wasn't a cyberDUDE but was "that car stereo dude" and suddenly i gained all these "friends" who wanted me to install their car stereos. i could never charge them because, well, they were my "friends"...and frankly, it was fun to rip apart their cars...plus i got to drive around with them blasting music....

i'd say it's all good for you. don't feel bad, get pumped! if you're good at something, spread the love...just make it clear that helping them isn't your TOP priority in life!

When people ask me if I know anything about computers I always say NO. Never had said Yes don't think I will. Even with this philosophy I too am here posting on a Saturday night. But thats because I'm recovering from last night.
