I'm upgrading my computer this next week so i'm ordering the parts this week. Here is what i'm getting.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice Core
ABIT AN8-ULTRA
ATI X800 XL PCI-E (already purchased)
1 stick 512mb PC 3200 Crucial to replace the 512mb generic. Will give me 1gig crucial total

Now i've been looking around and MSI has a $25 MIR on there Neo4 Plat board. I was set on the ABIT but not i'm not too sure. Suggestions welcome.

I'd get the ABIT. High end parts (Japaneese capacitors) and high end circutry make this board a keeper. You're sure you're getting the passive revision (v2.0) right? That one supports 3.5 vdimm and overclocks better. Also because it's passive your ears might thank you.

MSI isn't too bad though, but if you're overclocking I'd stick with ABIT.

Hey you could also wait for the ati board coming out this week or two since it's so close anyways.

I was thinking about that but what would the advantages be for that board vs. the Abit?

They both use passive cooling for chipset but the ATI splits the load between 2 chipsets I think. Since the nforce ultra concentrates everything on just 1 chip it's more likely to heat up more on that. Both the Abit and the ATI boards should be real good for oc. I dunno, just wait a week and you'll find out.
