I'm packing my bags to live abroad for a year. What am I forgetting?

Toilet paper, money, toothbrush, toothpaste, money, floss, money, the telephone number for the in-country US embassy (tattoo it on your arm), money, razors (no other country on earth can make razors, they just can't), and a big bag of money.

Pretty sure most of these things can be picked up for a few dollars on arrival. He's going for a year, not the weekend.

I don't think they'll let you bring razors on a place. I don't even think you can check them in.

You can take your Mach3 in your pocket if you want. I keep mine in my carry-on all the time. I don't suggest taking a year's supply of them but you don't have to think twice about flying with them.

I dunno, an Arab looking guy came at me with one on a plane once.

It was a close shave!
D:

So I tipped him.

HEY-OOO! :D

Just make sure whatever electronics you are taking can plug and play where you are going.

Everything else you can buy or replenish locally if you are going first world, or to any large urban most anywhere, despite what IronWing thinks.

Out of curiosity, what's to study in Cranfield?

As an aside, told my 15 mo old that "those are just big dogs", speaking about the sheep.

Scrumpy Jack ale is your friend..

You don't need a voltage converter at all either? Do they use the same Amps/Volts we do?

that certainly doesn't look like it accepts a north american 3 prong plug. also, a step down tranformer will be needed to power 110VAC devices from 220VAC european power.

Looks like it does, maybe look at it upside down? I used similar plugs in China and Australia. Most device worth taking overseas will work on 110 or 220 (check the plug to be sure).

Any important medical history. Contact numbers for embassy as has already been mentioned. Personal contact info (don't rely on your phone). Good shoes.
