heres the situation

a guy i went to school with and am now at university with owes me £100 ($180) and were sharing a house next year. he owes me £100 from the deposit for the house since he couldnt pay. the bank screwed his account up and left him with no Debit card, or cheque book.

hes told me time and time again that he'll have it next week, but comes back with an excuse that his mums broke

now hes suggesting that he can transfer me a £100 over a POKER client. now i know why he has no money, he plays poker online. he said when he gets it hes gonna transfer me £100 to my bank....of course i have to register and sign up to this poker thing

should i trust it?

im sharing a house with him, and im buying the router.....im blocking every single poker site there is so he cant play, then he'll have money to pay bills

cliffs
*guy owes me £100 ($180)
*known him since i was 11
*plays poker, has no money
*wont pay me back
*wants to transfer poker winnings to me over poker client
*should i trust it?

ill bet his mum n dad gave him the money since the other guy were sharing with got his £100 back (we split a £200 deposit 2 ways) and hes jus spent mine on poker :|

your son owes me £100 from a house deposit, and i want it back....its been a few months at least

but thatll drop him in sh!t with his parents if they already gave him the money

I've stupidly loaned money to dishonest people in the past, and can only tell you this:

Odds are, you're not going to get the money back.

I didn't. The thing you have to ask yourself is, was it worth £100 to recognize what a shady person that guy is? Small price to pay for that knowledge IMO, and you can and should adjust your future actions accordingly.

doesn't really apply but..

"If you loan a friend $50 and never see them again, it was probably money well spent"

this guy is one lazy mofo

now he has got a summer job lined up supposedly and his plan was to pay me the first week of that job (he'll be gettin payed weekly)

but

1) i doubt the job exists since he changed his plan to the poker thing
2)even if it did, hed of spent the money before i told him

You'll give him access to YOUR bank account so he can

1- transfer the $100 to you
2- drain your account playing poker

Avoid this guy like the plague and find a new roomy...

Charge interest. Don't give him bank account details. Don't lend money to 'friends' in values you can't just eat.

You're moving into a house with a guy who can't even make the deposit payment? How do you expect him to pay rent? You might want to rethink that situation.

very much the case. tell him you're not going to live with him and you'll find another roommate.

Something is not right with his solution. There is no reason he could not transfer the moeny from his poker account to his own bank account and then pay you by check.

Good friends use you and abuse you? Are you that lonely?

Seems to me you've got a choice to make that falls in one of two categories:

1] Deal with it and bend over.
2] Lose the "friend"....

Hard choices sometimes but ....
