Since that. Would it be ok if i took off my old cpu and take the thermal goo off that w/ a plastic bag and spread it on my new one. True that a cpu that had the grease on it still has it on it and wipe-able when you remove it from the socket? :p

Well according to this... just about anything works... :D ;)

But if i were you id make a quick trip to a close radio shack, fry's, compusa, or bestbuy... if i didn't want to wait. I'm not gonna burn up a new proc unless i got it for free. :)

It takes very, very little thermal grease to make things work. Too much is worse than too little.

I've done this, and i've seen cpus run just fine without any TIM between them (of course things do run a little warmer)

I'd wait to get fresh compound. and certainly do not attempt to operate it without any thermal compound!
