From what I can gather you can connect a storage device to a router? Sounds sweet if true.. So what is it?

I did google it but I want it in simple terms..

network attached storage

usually a small appliance with 1 or more hard drives for data storage and sharing.

So how reliable is it? I haven't head of it till now, how long has it been out? How expensive?

To me it sounds like a excellent product so I figured I'd have sen more about it..

NAS isn't one product, its basically any storage that can be accessed over the network. That may not be exactly correct. But you seem to think it is one thing you can buy, and its not. Its as reliable as any hard drive, but like I said, it depends on what you get, some may be less reliable then others. NAS has been around for quite a while. I don't know exactly when, but I am sure it started shortly after the first network was built.

Price can vary depending on what your looking for, number of hard drives, size of hard drives, other equipmet needed.

I have all my media files on a couple HD's on my main PC which I have to leave on for me other computers and neighbors to access so I'm gonna have to try this out.
