I'm officially shocked...Beck's new album is really different, but great.

Listening as I post....it's very mellow, country-tinged ballads for the most part. Kind of a singer-songwriter kinda vibe with fairly unobtrusive production for the most part. Very, very different from his previous stuff (which I also liked).

Cool. I like it when artists shift gears to keep themselves challenged (without spiraling into unintelligible Pearl Jam weirdness).
