kayak fishing is lots of fun. I was just doing that yesterday in the Long Island sound. Didn't catch anything... but I'm a much better kayaker than a fisherman!

My parents have a couple sea kayaks down in FL that I like to take out onto Lemon Bay for some peaceful fishing. Heading down end of July, and want to try some tarpon fishing from the kayak, which can be fairly intense when wrestling with a 150lb fish.

Fixed.

What is it supposed to mean  ?

I dont know. I am tired, had several beers and i have Pavarotti cranked on my headphones.

Haven t you heard the term "she gets around"?

well op is using a kayak to get around......... Op is some kind of uber whore.....

points for trying to get a laugh out of u guys?

On a more serious and less mass suicidal clown note, i went kayaking once in the bay and a great whit twice the size of the canoe stalked from underneath for a while, lost interest and swam off. I seriously crapped in my pants.

Where do you fish? I have a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 140 that I've got loaded to the gills and do saltwater fishing with. Had a tourney the past weekend for puppy drum. Good times. Kayaks are great because of their low draft. Try getting a regular boat across a oyster bar at low tide with only 3-4" of water between your keel and the oyster shells.

I found an awesome fishing hole that I'd bet 1000's of people have looked at, but no one has fished in years. It's below a waterfall about a mile upstream of the nearest place you can get any boat in. You can't get that far upstream on foot, and you can barely get there with a kayak - if you can paddle hard enough. When the water is a little higher, it's considered "impossible" to get there with a kayak. But, it's a deep hole formed by an eddy downstream of the falls. Cliffs on all sides around the eddy. I'll bet there is at least one monster sized catfish in there, and who knows what else.

Hopefully I get a chance later this week to fish that hole with my son. (Not even allowed on the river without a partner.)

Sweet man, I have the exact same kayak. Did you get one of the newer versions with the Phase 3 seat? Man I love it... most fun I'm having in a long time. You hook it up with a fish finder? I only added some basic accessories so far... fishing rod holder and a gps holder. Was thinking about getting a rudder installed but I am finding as I get more experience I am able to control my boat a lot better- keeping it straight on course.

Have fun! Matt has never heard of it.

alright i'm back. Ended up taking the pontoon boat out instead of the kayak. Not much wind this morning. Hot (95F) and blue skies. Saw a few small largemouth bass follow my bait up to the boat and then at about 2 hours I caught a nice 3-4 pounder. Fished for another couple of hours with no luck.

I'll post some pics when I can.

I picked up an 08 model off of CL with a paddle for $450. All I have on there is a scotty rod holder but I added an anchor trolley and got all my stuff loaded up in the back. Here's a couple of pictures of me boat:

Milk crate for holding everything

Bday is in a week so I'm thinking about picking up a humminbird 595 gps/ff combo. Last big purchase for it was a Penn 321/Ugly Stik combo for hunting cobia. Don't think I need a rudder at this point, but maybe when I start going down rivers and the odd class 2 rapid.
