I'm Off From Work For At Least A Week...

We wound up having to spend most of the workday yesterday out in the rain and wind. I was feeling rather crappy by the end of the day, and wound up calling in sick this morning. Went into the clinic, told them that I basically felt like I had influenza, except no congestion, runs, or sore throat. Just a high fever, fatigue, aches (particularly in the joints), and a bit of a cough.

They did a chest x-ray, and it turns out I have early-stage pneumonia in my left lung. I'm glad they caught it early, as I don't want to imagine how bad I would feel if it was a full-blown case.

The P.A. gave me an open ended sick note for my employer, minimum of one week.

I don't really have any appetite, but the Biaxin that was prescribed to me has to be taken with food, so I got some sweet & sour pork to eat at the store while waiting for my drug order to be filled. Odd stuff to be eating when sick, but when nothing sounds appetizing, at least a favorite food like that is somewhat easier to ingest.

I may have been exposed to something that a friend's child had, and the conditions yesterday just aggravated it. I was feeling rather lousy even when I went into work yesterday, but I thought I was just tired. :-/

The reason I'm curious is I thought it pretty unlikely that a young guy with a strong immune system wouldn't be able to fight off Pneumonococcus, so really I'm wondering do you REALLY have Pneumonia or a Pneumonia-LIKE lung infection?

Wow, crazy...

Take some Echinecea and Vitamin C. I'm serious. It will help.

I'm shocked that echinecea doesen't get more good press. It's almost amazing how it kicks your immune system into high gear.

The press it HAS gotten has been inconclusive.
