working with my older brother and friend who are both 4 years older than me.

Brother can barely stand because his back is fucked...friend can barely walk because his knees are fucked..and there is me who is doing cart wheels around the job.

Did I get lucky or am I due for a debilitating injury?

I'm 45.

*edited to add...we are all gas fitters*

Being broke down and old are really two different things. I'm 33 and feel great. I play pickup basketball with guys in their early twenties and have no trouble at all. I plan on being healthy and active into my 70s. If other people want to screw themselves off then let them. I choose good health.

We are all healthy but it seems the wear and tear of installing furnaces/ac's and service work is really catching up to them.

Should note me and my brother both did roofing for 15 years.

33 is still so young man. And everyone thinks that same thing. We'll all be healthy and active when we are old. In 10 years you're going to realize the age you are now is the age when everything started going down hill. And won't be able to do nearly as much or keep up. Stuff just happens out of nowhere out of your control, the body just decides to break down or get sick for no reason of your own. Just a sad fact. And it sucks. Shoot you could get bit by a tick tomorrow and have lime Disease the rest of your life. You could crash your car or hurt your knee. Get a tumor, Stuff happens.

53 and have done all of the above, except the tick.

Knee is a bit messed up right now, they heal slower.

I'll refrain from obligatory nukeage.

It's getting redundant, and if you're that old haven't learned much over time, I do not believe it.

I don't consider anyone being old until they hit 60 so you are fine.

As long as you can maintain the quality of life you had when you were younger you are perfectly fine.

I felt old for the very first time in my life the other day.

I was driving home with my wife and the old Destiny's Child song "Jumpin' Jumpin'" came on, and I remarked, "man, I have heard this song in like 15 yeaaaaaaaaa.........OH MAN!" :D

I disagree. Jack Lalane and Sylvester Stallone are two examples of people who have lived healthy lifestyles all of their lives. Inactivity and poor eating are the reasons why are bodies quickly deteriorate. Genetics plays a big part as well.

People do not engage in activity as they get older. Have you been to the beach lately? The older people sit on their asses while their children are frantically running around. Couple inactivity with poor eating habits and our bodies pay the price.

Our bodies get old. That's a fact. A 50 year old even if he exercises daily and eats only organic produce isn't going to look like a 20 year old. Stallone looks amazing for his age, but he does look older. He's not the Rambo/Rocky from the mid-80's. Those days are long gone. Still, we can stay active and eat well. This can in- turn ward off a lot of the ailments that come with aging.

I'm 30, I feel old when I see dudes my age with recessed hair lines and diminished personalities (another penalty of getting old).

I'll be 30 in 2 years, makes me feel old and I realize I'm probably about half way done life if I consider the fact that it keeps going by faster and faster.

Yes; not acting like a dumbass is one common side effect of getting old.

Shame isn't it? Just going through life, day by day, one office cubicle to another, office shirt on, only worried about bills and 401ks with no sense of humor, beat down by the pressures of career and marriage.

Seriously though, I've seen people turn into straight zombies from age 20 to age 30. It is sad.
