I have a fedex facility about 5 minutes from my house, nearly all of my packages go through there except Fedex Home Delivery. Even though the nearby facility services Fedex Home Delivery for the area, for some reason my address 5 minutes away gets routed through a completely different facility.
My complaint is that the facility my home packages go through is ~ 90 minutes away (even longer during rush hour). Half the time its not a big issue as Fedex can leave the package at my door when i'm not home (granted, thats a crappy drive for the Fedex driver), but lately i've been getting more direct signature required packages which require me to be present at delivery. As i'm out of town quite often or away when the driver delivers, this is not ideal.
Normally a missed delivery wouldn't be a big deal, just drive 5 minutes to the local fedex to pick it up, but well, a 3 hour detour is a different story
Is there a reason Fedex would do this? I've called them before, but they can never give a good explanation.
