Wow, I was up from 4 to 5:30 am puking until my stomach was inside-out.... and I didn't call in sick. Why? Because I felt better at 6am, although tired.

One of the few things I like about the company I work for is their attendance system. Each instance of calling in/leaving early/being late earns you points. Missing a day is one point, being late or leaving early is 1/2 point. Until you hit 5 points nobody cares. They won't even ask you what happened or where you were (unless you have a boss who is genuinely concerned about you).

How long does it take before the point is removed?

so, like, leave at 9:05, or come in at 4:55, and get 1/2 a point?

They drop off after six months.

5 points is verbal warning, 6 is written, 7 is final written, & 8 is gone.

There is a 5 minute grace period on each side of the shift start/end.

So if your shift was 8-5 you could sign in as late as 8:04:59 and leave as early as 4:55:01 and be fine. Anything later/earlier than that would get a 1/2 point.

That's right.... go to work when you're sick. Suffer. And, for your suffering, you don't have to feel guilty for calling in sick when it's really NICE outside.
Ughhh, why can't we have the weather you're having in Washington..... cold, drizzly, and miserable outside today.... Nice out there though, wth are you doing behind the computer?

One of the many reasons I can't stand unions. It wouldn't matter if his boss stumbled on to this thread, a union arbitrator would make sure he keeps his job.

Rain on your parade? I hate to break it to you but some of us have a good work ethic (show up to work, call in only when sick or emergency). You made a thread that basically flaunts your laziness and I called you on it. Not my fault your conscience may be bothering you a bit for falling into the sterotypical lazy union work archtype.

Personal health days are needed by all. You should try some, it may lighten your attitude. :)
