But I dragged out my old DC Talk "Supernatural" CD... wow. It has been a long time since I have heard contemporary music of such calibre.

Favorite Christian artists?

I do like Chevelle, but I don't consider them a "Christian" band. Creed... yeah, let's not go there.

sorry, but Creed is awesome. Only one or two bad songs.

My favorite Christian band, though, is no longer around: Deliverance.

<--not a christian, but some of the best speed metal has a christian flavor.

I've given my opinion in another thread on this topic, but I'll do it again:

Third Day and Mercy Me are, simply, amazing bands. Very mainstream musically, but they don't compromise ANYTHING in lyrics. I have ALL the albums of both groups and never get tired of them.

:D

Ugh, the only large Christian radio station in Seattle is a "soccer mom" type music channel.

when you're online, if you have the bandwidth, check out Zradio. it's based in Orlando and their selection of music is pretty good. i listen to it at work a lot.

I like a lot of Christian metal, like Zao, Extol, Crutch, Tourniquet, and some of more socially accpetable like Newsboys and Audio Adrenaline. I saw the latter two in concert and they rocked hard.

EDIT: oh yeah, I forgot about Deliverence. They're pretty cool. And speed metal is just that; heavy metal that is very fast. Think early Metallica, or some Iron Maiden.

Wow, we have like 5 stations here where I live (SW Florida). One is more directed towards the younger crowd.

You can listen my local station online though: http://wayj.wayfm.com/

They are a bit preachy but I like Caedmon's Call.
Much more "main stream" is Jars Of Clay.
There are a few others that my wife has but I don't know their names.

The music is very good. Sometimes the lyrics can get preachy but sometimes they are quite profound and make me feel warm inside. Then I kick up my heals and DANCE!

I can't get used to Electric guitars in church. hehe. Not that I go all that often. I would actually enjoy going to a Christian mass but I laugh every time someone "raises their hands in glory". I'm not being anti-anything here, I know some are so against any kind of religion, that's not me but I think it's funny.

What a great album! It was more subtle than Jesus Freak.
I also like Newsboys and Stephen Curtis Chapman. There's a lot of good stuff there.

These days, I don't bother letting the "religious affiliation" of a band affect my thinking. Good music is good music, whether it's purely secular, Buddhist chants, or contemporary Christian.
