Pardon my rant, but you have to complain somewhere.
So there I am sitting at home enjoying a day off (I never work Fridays) when my cell phone rings (why didn't I just let it ring?). It was someone from work asking me to "come in for a few hours to cover the phone." Well, I didn't want to because I was in full "day off" mode, but she said come in at noon and leave at 3:00, we just need someone here for a few hours. So I say what the hell, its only a few hours, so I agree to come in.
Well, get here, and find out at they want me to leave at 3:00 allright, they want me to go to some other company and install a bunch of printers after 3 o'clock! By the time I got to work, they had already called the company to let them know I would be showing up!! That whole install process will take probably an hour and a half (30-40 minutes to install the printers, the rest to wait around for dumb crap they do at big companies). Well on a normal work day I would get off at 4:00, but this little install puts me getting off at at least 4:30. So now my "just come in a for a few hours to cover the phone" has turned into drive to downtown San Jose to do a printer install, and work later than you would on a normal day. How in the hell did this happen? I was in full "day off" mode! I was playing Diablo2! I was getting ready to shoot some hoops! I was going to ride my motorcycle! Now I'm at work, at getting ready to go install some printers, and work late. I don't get paid enough for this crap. If I got paid good money, I could overlook this, but dammit I don't get crap for what I do. Monster.com here I come!
