Hey I just bought a HP laptop here is some specs:

Celeron 750mhz
128mb@PC100
8xDVD
13.3 TFT Active Matrix Screen
TV/out
8mb S3 3D chipset
56k V.90
ect
ect

Well my question is can I play games like Counter Strike on it online/offline? The dude at Best Buy told me it wouldnt run it but either way I didnt buy it to play games but would like to know. If I can will it damage it in anyway?

I was chooseing between this one and a compaq Celeron 766mhz with about the same specs I just hope HP laptops are good/decent.

You can play it with software render with UNPLAYABLE frame rate. I believe only with GeForce 2 GO and Radeon Mobile can offer reasonable frame rate.

You can play games with that labtop. It all just depends on which game (whether it is graphic intensive), what your settings are and what you expect. Don't expect any real good frame rates with your labtop having only 8 MB of video memory (and being S3 chipset). But, yes u can play games and no it will NOT damage it anyway (unless you drop it of course). ... But you asked to play offline/online?? I am assuming you mean online or offline internet. For counterstrike, this is a multiplayer only game (you play only with people on the 'net). Therefore, you always have to be online to play this game (but not must others). Good luck with your new labtop.

K cool

Is HP good at building laptops as far as them being durable and lasting a long time as long as one is taken care of? Or does compaq make the better lappy?

Personally, compaq and HP are not good labtop/computer makers. I have never owned one, but my friend works in retail and repairs computers like that. It should do just fine, but for future refrence, I'd prefer Dell (although they are expensive, but it is worth it). Hope this helps
