Well, after some mulling over I have just ordered my first Apple.

I don't think I'll be giving my PC up just yet but time will tell.

No mac I've ever used does this.

I believe the mouse cursor movement speed is slower by default than on Macs than Windows, but I don't know about choppy. (unless you're playing a game on underpowered hardware maybe)

I want my cookie. Cause im on one right now and thats definately not the case. You will be very happy with your purchase.

I have a dual 1.8 G5 as well as a top of the line laptop (PC), Mid range PC and soon a top end PC.
I hardly ever use my Mac.
I bought it for design work, but even for this I prefer PC's.

Sure it doesnt look as good, none of the menu's do, but in terms of options, customisability, and output, PC's are better. Not to mention far more apps and codecs etc.
Even VLC Player for Mac doesnt cut it these days.

If you want something utterly simple and seriously user friendly, and pretty, perhaps Macs are for you, but for everything else, inc gaming, go with a PC.

I already have a pretty good gaming rig.

The Macbook is for portability and because I wanted to try something new.

The functionality offered by the Macbook is more than sufficient for my requirements on the move.

I'm sure you'll be very happy w/ your purchase...

I was a huge Mac fan back in the 90's...But I can't justify the higher prices, so I stick w/ PC's...

Besides, PC's are so much easier for me to upgrade & customize...My dad has an iMac, but I prefer to use my PC's...

I have a pc desktop for gaming ect. but for a laptop I will always have a mac. Not sure why you think the prices are so high. For the the features you get they are very competitive on pricing.

No 😛

It's currently the closest thing to my DSL wall connection, and currently has the wireless router connected up to it 😛

Plus all the kids use it for web browsing and downloading etc.
Keeps em off my PC.

There is nothing wrong with mouse movement on the Macintosh. It is simply set slower by default. If it's an issue, change it in the System Preferences.

I just got my MacBook Pro. It is the most elegant beast that I've ever owned.

Why would anyone expect "nonMAC" apps to run on Mac OS X?

I like the Macbook Pro, but for some reason the Quad G5 PowerMac is still beckoning to me. I'm glad I can't afford it right now, my wife would kill me if I acquired yet another computer. 😀

Each of those vendors top application software has a native Mac OS X version. Are you implying they are vastly inferior to the respective Windows version?

I'm not trying to be an ass per se, but your point escapes me. 🙂
