I'm loving my Dell Studio 1737 lappy again.

After a clean install, new battery, new power charger and new 240Gb SSD, this thing is the bomb! Just to think I was gonna turn it out to pasture and go buy some new, probably not as well built POS. I owe this thing an apology. What a difference a bit of time and $200 can make!

This thing executes commands lighting fast and from power off to boot is 17 seconds or so. Running like this and with the original drive in the second bay, plus 2TB of removable HD storage, how they hell could I complain? I am a happy, very happy camper!

It's amazing how much of a difference an ssd can make. Added one to my Inspiron 1525 about a year ago and it flies now...6 year old system.

I just did the same (except the battery) to my Dell Studio 1555. New life for this one too!

It's great to hear that others like to "freshen" old gear and have great success too! Yeah for SSDs. Are you using a CD/HDD caddy for the removable storage?

saratoga172: The 1525 can take up to a t-9300/9500 CPU (I did 2) and is readily accessible for the upgrade.

Added an SSD to my old TX2 and it made a huge difference. The 1737 is a tank of a machine too. You probably added a couple more years of life to it. Still a great machine for daily use.

Doing it for the screen size. I'm 55 and have bad eyes going for me. Yes it's a tank, but it serves me well. I could have spent a grand for something this size, but why? It sits on a table 95% of the time and I don't really take it anywhere. Makes no sense to buy a new one, now that it's working as well as it is.
