I'm lovin' it

McDonalds latest ad campaign has me simply dumbfounded, what genius thought this up and who was the dope that signed off on it? This, imo, has got to be the WORST series of advertisements I have ever seen.

The latest commercial is what really got me, though I couldn't find it, only the i'm lovin' it video above. It basically constitutes a bunch of people at a party over the most horrific song a company has shoved down my throat. "I'm dressed up at a party, Holla peeps. Yall b!tches want some McDonalds? Breakfast for you, midnight snack for me. Word, I'm lovin' it in my Air Force Ones."

:disgust:

edit: Maddox's take on it

And here you are talking about it, which is clear evidence that it (as an advertising campaign) is effective.

Wheres the "I don't watch TV and I don't listen to the radio so I don't get subjected to this crap often enough to care" option?

They could post a picture of a starving child in Africa with the slogan "He wishes he was lovin' it" and I'm sure EVERYONE would be talking about it, but I doubt it would be good for business. Just because people are discussing it does not mean it is a successful ad imo.

Well, good thing they didn't ask your opinion. To a marketing-type, they are trying to generate publicity and brand recognition. You remembered the slogan, you remembered the company, and you even disliked it enough to come here and post about it, generating even more publicity for the campaign.

They're not trying to get you to like them, they are trying to imprint their brand in your mind - and it worked quite well. You didn't specify in the title what "I'm Lovin' It" refers to, but I bet there are few people out there who didn't know what you were talking about without even reading the thread.

That is a successful ad campaign.

Advertising reinforces brand name recognition, that's all. In that, it was successful with regard to this particular advertising campaign.

Actually you're absolutely wrong.

Being a McDonalds person, words from the corporation is that the campaign has been highly successful.
McDonalds already copyrighted the slogan "I'm lovin it" and about to copyright the jingle right before "I'm lovin it".
Mcdonalds are enjoying the highest sales increase since 1984.
Now it might be due to new menu items, $1 menu, advertising or bad sales from previous yrs.....you can't argue with results.

I personally don't like the campaign myself but thats what the corp. is telling us.

Ya, i'm h8ing it t00, but its funny, in that video, when that soccer fan gets on that bus and the rest of the bus is loyal to the opposing team. I always laugh a little when i see that. And, on that site, wtf is with that "I am asian" thing on the side? Cuz like...if theyre asian...and some asian people eat dog meat.....well, you see where im going with this.....
