I'm losing SETI WUs! :(

I first suspected something was going on yesterday. My new SETI stats system, which I had just set to synch with my SETI stats, said I had done one more WU than the SETI server, or the pages that get their data from there, did. But I figured I hadn't set it right the first time and reset it.

Today, one of my friends joined my miniteam. According to the SetiQ log files, he got one WU in before the Q flushed, and I did three, one just under the wire. So I should have done 4 WUs yesterday. 🙂 But all the stats systems from SETI's servers show I did 3. 🙁 The logfiles do confirm I flushed 4 WUs. And when I tried flushing another of my friend's WUs, it went through fine.

So, what could be causing me to lose WUs? Am I the only one losing them, or are there others who, like me until my stats system, just don't check to make sure everything synchs?

I'm using just about every stats system there is, and they all tell me the same thing (that I lost work.) Both Nexus9's and Orange Kid's stats say I submitted 3 WUs yesterday, but both my SetiQ log files say I submitted 4. My stats system takes that SetiQ log and adds the number of new WUs to the previous day's total. My stats were one WU higher than the stats you mentioned, Office Boy, the SETI@Home stats for my e-mail, in the account area.

I did get a strange message on loading one new WU:

11/26 Sun 9:34pm SRV get new work unit
11/26 Sun 9:34pm SRV WorkUnit qwork.3a21e46c obtained
11/26 Sun 9:34pm wu (rpd=3) Min:5 Max:13 Queued:12
11/26 Sun 9:34pm SRV get new work unit
11/26 Sun 9:34pm SRV qwork.3a21e46c already exists
11/26 Sun 9:34pm SRV WorkUnit qwork.3a21e46d obtained
11/26 Sun 9:34pm wu (rpd=3) Min:5 Max:13 Queued:13

Don't know if that means anything?

Looks like you may have received and cracked a duplicate WU, which could account for the missing WU in your stats, since we can only get credit once for each WU...

If SETI rejected them, wouldn't SetiQ put them in its Dropped directory? There's only one, very old WU in my dropped directory. I don't think I'll get that WU for 2 or 3 days, so I don't know that it has affected me yet.

The good news is I checked my stats today, and I haven't lost any WUs this time. 🙂

SetiQ would put the results in the dropped directory if they couldn't be sent to the server, but I'm not sure if that applies to duplicate/rejected results..?

When you say you haven't lost any WU's this time, does that mean you're up to where you are supposed to, or that you haven't lost any MORE WU's? 🙂

If SETI rejects a work unit as duplicate, it rejects it when you try to send it. It would appear in the dropped directory for SETIQ.

Check the totals over a couple days. Make sure it isn't just showing up late... Happens sometimes in DNet stats, so I suppose it is possible in SETI@Home.
