I'm losing my assimilated computer.....

...as well as my job in a week. So, since I'll have some free time (yeah, right...), I'm going to try and get the other "old" system hooked up and working again. K6-III 450 with 256 MB ram. It only needs a floppy and CDRom to start it up again, and install WinME on the extra 6 gig hard drive I have left over from awhile back. Going to see if I can successfully network the two computers and just crunch on the "little" one.

I'm hoping that using the Seti CLI will give me 2 or 3 WUs a day so I can stay somewhere around 10 a day. If I can, I should be pretty much on target for the 1000 mark by the 1st part of February. Then, I may ask a few of you that have offered to help me crunch to see if I can get the 2500 cert before the program shuts down.... heheh

I'll keep ya'll informed......

I hate to disappoint you, but with the K6-3, you'll be looking at about 1-2 WU per day, nothing more.

The FPU on the K6 series just plain sucks, and Seti is VERY FPU intensive.

I'm sorry to hear about you losing your job, i hope you are able to find another one soon. I myself am leaving my job next Friday (moving out of area) so i'm job hunting too.

yeah, and watch out which OS you install - my recent experience with Win XP on a K6-II 500 getting a WU every 2 days really showed me it does make a difference.
ANybody know about Win-me??

Geez.... if only get 1 WU every 18 to 20 hours, it's probably not worth the electricity to run it.

hmmm... maybe I'll put it together and sell it, then use the bucks to buy another CPU or cheap combo....

Might as well start working on another new system. heheh... looks like I might have a little time on my hands.

I agree it's not worth the power to run a box doing less than 2 WU's per day. My rule is nothing below a P3.
