This is the guitar I picked out so far, I know it's expensive, but it's under what I'm willing to spend.

What kind of amp would do this guitar justice? and what other equipment do I need before I get started?

You're getting that for your first guitar.. ? :Q

lol, yeah it may sound crazy, but I want something that'll last long and sounds great. I've heard cheap electric guitars before, and I really don't like it.

Good thinking, I spent $750 on a nice used American Strat for my first guitar, it'll be worth it in the long run.

Judging by the guitar, I'm guessing you want to play metal (or a variant), and since you're willing to spend more upfront, you probably want to buy a tube amp. We need a budget before making any recommendations, though.

Okay thanks, my budget is below $1250, so I think that leaves open a lot of choices. I'm actually looking to play rock, nothing too heavy though, I guess a lot along the lines of the killers or muse, so you have an idea.

I'd suggest not getting a guitar with EMG 81/85 active pickups in it if you're not planning on playing anything too heavy. Also, go for used gear whenever possible. You could get much nicer gear used within the same budget.
