I'm looking for an app to make text logos

I'm desiging a website and a few years back there was an app that you could type in text and apply effects to it like flames or trails. I know photoshop can do this but I can't afford it.

Illustrator?
Try getting an Educational version of them or Photoshop, they're a lot cheaper.

Xara made an app a while back that was pretty nice. You can do wonders with Photoshop (even Paint Shop Pro), though.

You can do wonders with Photoshop (even Paint Shop Pro), though.

You can do wonders in The GIMP too and it's free.

Find me a SINGLE reputable company with flames or trails in thier logo.

Your logos are going to look like amateur crap.

Nothing says you have to go that route, you could take one of the metalic ones and tweak that.
