F series pickup, the best selling fullsize p/u in the country iirc.
well, for weeks ive been scouring for one 1992-1996 with the straight 6 motor, supercab and 4wd, in excellent to superb condition.
ive found lot in great shape 2wd, found some in great shape that have the 5.8, come across tons of beat ones.
tried ebay, the one i did find well, lets just say it was over 100 miles away and had polaroids and a very high opening bid.

how do i find this truck within my region.
i do not want a 97+ becuase the body looks stupid.
ive tried craigslist.
autotrader.
cars.

someone doesnt want me to have this truck.

That torquey tractor motor 300ci six just goes forever. It's a GREAT choice accross utility, economy and endurance, in the non-hyper-testorterone real world.

:) ive heard nothing but good things about the ford straight 6.
i dont want a beasted truck, just a fullsize truck, and i happen to think the 1992-96 f-150's for me anyway, were my favorite in terms of styling.(and isnt 96 the last year the straight 6 was used?)
anyhow, ill accept no substitute, i just wish some retiree would get bored with theirs and sell it to me.
the problem of course up here is rust, ive seen trucks with 43k miles that looked like theyve spent the better part of thier life at the bottom of the ocean.

They are out there, have patience and keep the faith.

Accept no substitues. You could get a four speed (as opposed to the standard three speed) with them, too. :D

I would think it's pretty rare to find the heaviest possible version of an F-150 equipped with a 6 cylinder.

I was going to mention rust. A friend of the family had a standard cab I6 that ran great until the frame snapped in half

Good luck finding one that old that is still in good shape AND has low miles. People that buy trucks and keep them for any length of time typically work them. My '02 F250 has almost 90K miles on it already.

I saw a 92 here a few months ago when i was shopping. It was a v8 crew cab 4x4. looked like it just rolled off the factory floor. It had about 60k miles on it.

the range is the problem.if i want to drive 150-300miles i can score one pretty easily.
nothing seems to be within 100 of me, and thats just too much driving for a single truck unless i am making the trip once...(almost impossible)

That's a lot less than the miles you'll end up using the truck for right?

I wouldn't think twice about driving 300 miles to buy a vehicle. I drove 600 miles to TN for a truck and I flew into NC and drove home 1000 miles for a Buick T-Type. To me that is half the fun of buying. If it is more than a 4hr drive I make sure to have LOTS of recent pics of the vehicle. Explain to the seller that I don't want any suprizes.

i had a guy 120miles away get pissed off at me because he thought i asked too many questions to be serious.
most people are like "come out and see it, you'll love it"
and with many, asking for more pcitures is like asking for free double lunch.:(

Werd. And, excepting the few who actually ARE that socially challenged, not wanting to fully answer your questions almost always means they are hiding something.

It is the sh!t down here. I moved from Indiana and never saw so many old rust free cars in my life. Hell I bought one, my 88 firebird. Completly rust free and the undercarage, fuel, and brake lines look like the day it came off the show room floor. Got a new paint job on it and looks kick ass.

No way in hell back up North would I have found this car in this condition, no way, no how and if I did it wouldnt of been $2K for it either.
