I'm looking for a roomate (Townhouse in Herndon, VA)

Hey I know this isn't the "normal" place to be posting such a thing, but I thought if anyone was looking for a place to stay it could work out for the both of us!

I've got a townhouse in McNair Farms (Herndon, VA) built in 1997, with 2200 sq. ft. of living space.

Asking $650/month plus 1/2 utilities (electric, water, gas, dsl, satellite tv) with a 1 year lease.

Please note that this is located in the Washington Metro area (Fairfax County - Close to the Dulles Airport), and 1000 sq ft 1 bedroom apartments normally go for around $1100+, so $650 is in my opinion reasonable to ask for a 2200 sq ft townhouse to share.

Looking for somebody to move in sometime around June (although this is flexible).

There is a private bedroom and bathroom available for your use.

I'm an easygoing guy, not too messy, but not a neat freak either. If you're interested, or know anybody who might be, please PM me or reply to this thread ...

Pictures of my townhouse can be found at:

I'm intrested but technical difficulties standing on my way prevent me from doing it. Anyway, bump for ya!

wow, great deal. I would seriously consider if only the Metro went out that way. I refuse to drive to work in DC traffic.

Does the VRE go out there at all?

A few months ago I heard rumors of a "purple" line being built that would go out towards Dulles and hit I think Tysons Corner as well. Any truth to that?

Nice lookin place at a great bargain for someone!

There is a chance that the purple line will be built, but its all speculation right now. However, I am within walking distance to the Herndon Monroe Metro Bus Station.

It would probably be a fairly long commute for you to get into DC though...

I used to live in Herndon and $650 is definitely a reasonable amount. The scary thing is even though it's $1100 for a 1BR in Herndon, it gets even more expensive as you get closer to DC! I couldn't believe how much rent was when I moved out there.

VRE doesn't go into Herndon, which is one of the reasons I'm not jumping on this myself.

wow, i pay DOUBLE what your asking in rent to live by myself in a 700 sq ft apartment.

too bad you're all the way our there, and i work all the way near the pentagon 🙁

Damn, I should have bought closer to DC ... I've gotten so many responses from people who would like a place close to DC! 🙂 ... Too bad I work in Reston, VA close to where I live. That and the place I would have bought near DC like in Tyson's Corner or Falls Church would probably have costed double, or the place would be 25% of the size of my place now 🙂

There are quite a few people in the area that work in DC 😛

The VRE and the Metro are the easiest ways for many of us to get to work (I wouldn't be working here if I didn't have easy access to the VRE). Herndon doesn't have access to either of these.

That is a nice area though, if its where I am thinking.

Yeah its a very nice area, I bought here mostly because its a 5 mile drive to work with little to no traffic even during rush hour. Didn't think I'd have too many problems getting a roomate, but I even placed an ad on roomate.com and while I've had interest, I haven't found anyone who wanted to sign the lease! Hopefully I'll find someone soon tho 🙂

Try Google and typing in roommate finder.

I'm a Realtor, but I can't really help finding roommates.

Well I looked for roommate finding services earlier, but when I checked it looked like most places were for colleges, while roommate.com (aka roommateservice.com) was the only "commercial" one ... it costs $20/month too ($30 for 2 months)! I'll try again and see if there's any that I missed, thanks for your help.

Damn, that's a good deal, if I were looking to move out. Though the drive from Herndon to work (Arlington) would be so much closer than from Silver Spring

You're in silver spring and work in Arlington?? I live in Arlington and work in Silver Spring 😀

Wow! I'd move in in a heartbeat... but I'm not anywhere near VA. I'm paying almost $650/month for a little apartment in LA.

Coincidentally, I'm also looking for roommates... preferably professional Asian females. So if weezergirl, newt, or neovan's girlfriend wanna move in with me, send me a PM. 😛

I am gonna pay $500 for my 1 bedroom ugly-ass apartment next year, and that's pretty cheap for around here because this is a college town and people just love ripping college students off.
