The plastic that covers my headlights is turning yellow and is not longer nice and clear, is there a product that can restore it?

Automotive stores usually have kits for you. Different grades of sand paper, polishing compound, instructions, the works.

I had the same problem several years ago on my MX6. I sanded them with 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and put two coats of clear on them. They looked brand new. Beats paying a ridiculous amount for new headlight assemblies. Sand them with what I said above and take them by a body shop and ask them if they will spray some clear on them for you. It shouldn't cost much.

If you're on a tight budget, I've heard that toothpaste works. More elbow grease and the results are not as good is what I've read.

Never done it myself though.

permatex also sells a headlight restoration kit - includes sandpaper, cloth, and polish.

You can spray a quick burst of chemtool on them. It melts the plastic and will create a smooth surface again. Tape off for your paint though and don't spray more than a quick burst.

I just used some ultra-fine sandpaper, water-sanded it with that, then broke out the buffer and compound. Did pretty well. They just fade again, though.

Dullness can be treated, but yellowness? I'd buy new headlight assemblies. And I have.

be sure you dont have a crack in your headlight casing; On my old car that happened to mine and it was actually discolored on the inside.

Get the mothers polish ball, add plastic polish or mag polish to it and 5 minutes later using a hand drill they will be clear.

Sandpaper takes for ever. The mothers ball is the quickest way to do it.
