I have a 40 meg MPG file. It's 40 seconds long. What's the best way to chop it down in size so that everyone can view it regardless of codec. I also need to chop it down to about 10 seconds, and raise the volume of it.

Are there any free tools, or tools that have a save function that are shareware (i'll buy if it works!)

thanks!

VirtualDub FTW

Codec wise, MPEG is about as universal as you get ... if "everyone" is limited to Windows you could use Movie Maker or an MS-downloadable MPEG4 flavour.

And it's probably way more tool than you need, but hey - not like you've gotta pay for it. :D

Google VirtualDub MPEG2. There's a special version for MPEG2. VirtualDubMod might be what I'm thinking of.
