I hope you stick with us & don't allow any RC5 problems to spread to the SETI team.
If I remember rightly you joined us shortly after I did ,it would be ashame to lose a fellow 2nd(?)generation SETI member.

BTW if you leave us your'll lose the hot tub & babes 😉😛
 
It's sad to see you go, Magicman! 🙁 Lately I have felt the same way you have and have considered slowing my herd down. For whatever reason I continue to crank along. I think Netopia pegged it right now. I'm definitely here until TA squashes /., at which point I may invest my herd into other projects. Please consider sticking around until our original team goal of being #1 overall is accomplished! Keep in touch.

BTW, you and Clay were the reason my output is as high as it is now days. Otherwise I would be at half the speed I am. 🙂

Okay, I went a little overboard in my last post. I'm at least not leaving until I finish my race with Sukhoi. But I would like to add one thing, by playing Dennilfloss for a day. 'Course since I'm not him, I had to look up the song for the correct name:

Magicman, its been a while since I've seen you around 😉. I have to agree with you as well regarding the "style" change here at AT. It first happened in the GF, then filtered down to OT, and has finally infiltrated the DC forum. Pretty much the only place I visit anymore is the DC forum for an occasional update and to see what everyone is up to.

I've also lost my general interest in DC. However, I keep the rc5 client running on my machine since its on 24/7, and I was one of the original members of the team (as were you). Because of that, my computer will contine doing rc5 until we pass /. Once that occurs, I will let my computer rest easier 😉.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do, and drop us an occasional line.
 
I'll visit this BSS from time to time and maybe I'll rejoin for the final month before we will pass /.

And maybe I'll join the Seti team someday.
 
It's a shame to see you leave Magicman, you will be missed. I understand and respect your decision to leave, but please reconsider.

I remember looking forward to reading your posts about THE crackrack. Both you and Cautery were always my hero's for the effort you put into building and maintaining crackracks. Your presents on the team has always been a big draw for other members.

The parts of 3 of the 9 CrackRack nodes are already sold.
I'll keep the CrackRackServer with all the files needed to do Seti, RC5 or GF,
and maybe I'll buy 3 or 4 Athlon class Nodes (1GHz+) early next year.
The loss of value of CrackRacks components was also a reason to take this step now (most of the CPU's are Celery366's).

 
Sad to see you go. I know that I've been thinking of leaving since I never even visit the main anandtech site anymore. I was going to move to that [H]ard team. I don't even post anymore because the atmosphere in here doesn't seem the same. Like a lot of others have said, I want to see TA pass /. just because its such a long tem goal that is finally nearing completion. (I'm also too lazy to switch teams) Sad to see you go but I see where you are coming from.
 
Nooooo! Such a pity, I know myself that I dont participate in the forums as much as I used to, its different and not as interesting as it used to be, I'm mainly a silent cracker now.
I can see how you might be bored with cracking.. I feel it myself after doing it for this long, but please still keep cracking with what you can!
You can see from the number of posts from "old timers" and new members that you are still respected and will be missed!

There is nothing to be said at this point. The teams have changed, my feelings have changed, and I too miss the forum the way it use to be. I can't post in words the rage this place has caused in my blood. I can't post in words the sadness I feel, when people I remember helping me get TMR running leave. The sad fact that WarpCore died because of change in the forums. That THE first Crack Rack is now going down.

There is still some hope, but man, I don't think it will ever change back to the way some of us older members remember it as.

I too will probably be in it for the long haul. After Slashdot, who knows. 🙁

Actually, I believe WarpCore was taken offline for a couple of reasons. 1) The increased power/cooling costs that Clay had to deal with, and 2) A bad turn of health.

However, most of the older members leaving the team was caused by some of the changes around here. The character of the place has just changed, and some of the members don't like the change. However, like many others I'm hanging around just to see a goal accomplished. I'll hang around until we take over the #1 spot, then its up in the air as to what I will do.

I enjoyed the mails about the LogParser(tm). Still got v0.25.6 here !
The forum changed (I've only been here for 9 months), I've changed, and I guess you did too? Whats wrong with that?

Do what you think is good. Anyway, if you do leave, stop by there sometimes, even if you dont participate anymore.

Maybe I'll find some time to continue TheLogParsers development (All I need is an Idea how I can store the previous stats so I don't have to doo all the stats of all the entrys in the log file)... sounds easy but ...

The current version is 0.25 pre 7
