My aim was to make my computer real quiet as i make music. All Im doing is buying the parts and taking it to a shop to fit it. Do I need anything else. I heard something about grease, fo i need that aswell, and finally is it all compatible with my amd athlon and gigabyte ga7vaxp motherboard? I really would appreciate your opinion and advice

Yours sincerely

I'm not a computer expert either but hope it helps.
If you want a quiet computer, search for the fan (cpu fan and case fan) first. I have a Panaflo 80mm fan with Antec AMB case. It's really quiet. Quieter than Dell computer.
Search this forum for Panaflo and thermalright heatsink. You would find tons of information as I did.
Personally, I don't think you need to bring parts to computer shop to assemble them. Why don't you try for yourself?
I got lots of helps from gurus in this forum and I think you would get too.

The best quietest heatsink fan in my opinion is the Zalman CNPS-7000A, but that may not fit your board. www.zalmanusa.com has a motherboard compatibility list. At the lowest setting you can't hear it when your case door is closed.

Any heatsink should some with some thermal grease or thermal pad. But you should buy Arctic Silver or something similar for best results.
