Well, I finally bought the hardware, a UD3P, a quadcore processor, 8 GB, and a 7200 as you suggest. Just put it together and I want to share the experience.
The mb rev is 1.6 When I attempted to dl and install the firmware I got an ID error. After several attempts I decided to give the magic boot disc a chance. (the firmware rev is FA, according the manual) The installation went smooth. I updated to 10.5.7 and rebooted. Still good. I installed the soupkit, Now it boots into the gray screen and after a few seconds a not permitted symbol appears above the apple logo. I thought I messed up a setting and thought to just reformat and reinstall. I get that symbol even on the Leopard DVD on boot up. I unplugged then HD, same thing. What did I do to this thing? Can I reset this mobo and start over?
