I'm in trouble, I need to learn how to host a sharepoint website from my computer......

My boss gave me a sharepoint 2013 and windows server 2008 R2 disc with the codes and asked me to setup a sharepoint site on my home computer.

I have installed both and they both work on a VM, now I need to publish the sharepoint website on the internet using either a hosting service or my own computer. Just how do I do it?

If I fail, the onus is on me. If he fails, it still all falls on me. I work in a bad company I know. But I just gotta do this. Can anyone guide me?

I know next to nothing about how the internet and networking works. Please help me, AT. You are my only hope.

No offense, but WTF kind of company, sends an employee home with server software, tells them to install it on their HOME computer, and then expects to run their business off of that employees' home PC? I'd charge them monthly for your "Computer Services".

I think the boss just wants OP to practice installing & configuring the servers at home first. No boss will ask an employee to host company's business at his home.

Go to youtube and search free tutorials setting up Windows Server and Sharepoint. But if OP has no knowledge about WIndows Server at all, it would be a tough job setting up everything and make it work even after viewing tutorials.

Windows Server and Sharpoint are super complex. Actually if you have no previous knowledge, it will become a disaster in no time since you don't know how to manage them even if you ask professional to set it up.

If OP's boss just want to let employees share some files online, OneDrive probably is all he needs.

Yea, he wants me to practice it. Thats all. I have set up both windows server and sharepoint on my computer. Now I just need to put up some sharepoint sites on the internet for the boss to give a presentation. It is this step I need help with.

BTW, I signed up for a frame ip address with my ISP to make it easier. No more dynamic IP for me until this gets solved.
