I'm in the market for a new printer, preferably one that prints excellent photos. Suggestions anyone?

epson owns!! my friend has an 890? or something, its simply amazing🙂 even has two shades of black, plain and slgihtly grey. it actually goes for very high resolution unlike canon and hp that try to get away with tricks😛

make sure you use epson paper with its ink. you can't mix and match manufacturer ink/paper if you want results. sad but true. i think pc magazine has a review this month..i forget.

you absolutely cannot go wrong with anything in the Canon line. traditionally their bubblejets sucked but ive had way too many reliabiliy issues with Epson ... just bought me a new S750 which is more for general use... but their S520/S820/and now S900 are considered the best in their class (personal photo inkjet)

yes but if i recall correctly, canon cartridges were rather expensive. Have the prices changed lately? ($30 a cartridge??)

You've just had a vote for Epson and one for Canon. So, let me muddy the waters further by casting my vote for HP. Excellent quality work spits out of my printer each time I use it. I have the Deskjet 952C and I'm content.

actually, they're not expensive at all...relatively speaking, that is. for my CMY+B&W, theyre around 30$ for a cartridge (10$ per color). however, epson and lexmark prices are about the same, with the diference being my previous epson and lexmark consumed ink like crazy! ive been doing some real heavy duty printing with the s750 and it still has plenty of ink left

i've had a 1998 lexmark 5700 and a new 2002 epson photo 750, and the lexmark beat the arse of the epson for text. absolutely no comparision at all. the epson just looks bad.

the photos on the epson, however, are awesome, its hard to tell its not a print. it also printers boardless. but the paper handling is annoying, if you don't check to make sure of the paper type each time you print you'll screw up and spray ink all over the inside of the printer or waste paper, which gets expensive when you print photos.

I'm sorry, but this printer just KICKS ASS! It's the HP 7550 :http://www.gateway.com/gca/dw/prnt/inkj/hpps7550.shtml

I work at gateway Country, and I'm always printing photos on it. With photo paper, 99% of the time you cannot tell the difference between it and professionally printed photos.

BTW - Gateway Offers it at $299. YOu should be able to buy it directly at your local Gateway Country store (or hell, you could even call me and I could place the order for you 😀 ) 🙂
