Im in the market for a 58" to 60" plasma & need some advice. Id like to keep the price under $2000. I was looking at the Panny 58" S1, & the Samsung 58" B650 & the LG 60ps60. Does anybody have any input on my choices or can they recommend something else? Any help on finding a good deal on one is also appreciated.

Thanks

I just purchased the Samsung 58B550 and I love it. The color reproduction is great, the contrast is incredible, and it has nice input options etc. I actually passed 100 hours on it two days ago so tonight is the first time throwing in a blu-ray (since most are not 16:9) and I didn't want to risk the burn in. It looks amazing.

Out of those choices, I'd get the Samsung. But just an FYI, for just a little more than $2K, you can get the 63" Samsung PN63B590 (<$2500). If that is stretching your budget too much, I'd go for the 58" Samsung PN58B650.

Yeah, I havent heard good things on the LG. Im a stickler for good black levels & the LG is supposedly bad in that department.

If you like black levels then you want the Panasonic. It has better black levels. The Samsung has better color reproduction. Just ignore the LG.

I'd say Panasonic since like me you prefer black levels but the Samsungs are nice.

That is what Im leaning towards. I can get the S1 dirt cheap from Dell right now.

Yeah, the Panasonic is known for better black levels, though the colors on the sammy are more accurate. I also noticed a yellow tint on two Panasonics at the local best buy, which had been mentioned in the review. Check your set and send it back if you're not happy.

BTW, my Samsung has a mild buzz, but we all sit off center so it hasn't been a problem.

The downside to the Panny S1, is that its pretty basic as far as adjustments. From what I hear, in order to make it look really good, one needs to get into the service menu.

I got a really good deal on a Panasonic 58" V10 so thats what I went with. I should have it sometime next week!

You'll be very happy with it. The black level issue is only on the g10 model (not sure what happened) but it's as common as the current gen samsungs for buzzing so I think you'll be very happy.

I almost went v10 but just didn't feel the adjustments/thx mode were worth it over the s1 so I ended up wit the 65s1. I promise though you will love that v10 when you get it in your home.

Thanks for the links!

I wish i saw that link. I bought a z series sony last night. It's nice, but that review caught all the cons I caught that the other sites did not mention. I am happy with my TV, but I kind of wish I knew about those cons. Sucks that none of that stuff is apparent at the store.
