i said i would do an upgrade for this guy for a little side money.

well i put things together and everything... heres the problem:

floppy was working for a while (i was using it to transfer over drivers that were missing or needed to be installed)

i go on a break and come back, turn the cmputer on, pop in another disk and it goes drive not ready.

when i goto my computer it says Removable Drive A:\

instead of just A:\ as the name.... someone help... i need the floppy (i tried using another floppy.... its not the drive itself)

i even tried reformatting again... no dice.

Are you formatting with the floppy or off the cd?

If you are formatting with the floppy drive, does this happen after you reinstall software or after installing a certain driver using the floppy drive ?
(meaning are the drivers your installing for something being instaled after the software is installed when this happens?)

If it happens right after the initial install of your operating sysytem and you are using a floppy to fdisk, and reformat, I would try using another clean boot disk to try formatting once again. (sounds like it may be ANTI.EXE virus (but not enough info to make an honest assessment.)

Happened to me and took a long time to figure out what was wrong, and Mcfee and norton couldn't find it, i downloaded a little program of the net for free and it found it right away.

PS: If it does turn out to be Anti exe virus i would throw all my floppies out and start with fresh, others will say that you could run virus software on them but for the price of floppies (why?)😕

What sort of upgrade are you doing? What are you upgrading?

What drivers did you load?

What OS?
 
just using some old parts from his compaq and giving him a new 800 duron. got a new mobo and processor. thats about it.

and it cant be a virus cause i downloaded the files from my computer now. my comptuer would be infected to 🙁


and i used cd to format.

any other ideas???
