Emirates is my new favorite airline. INTL Emirates Business Class > DOM Delta First Class. I'd love to see what the Asian airlines can do

Did I mention how awesome the food/service on Emirates is? Free booze all day long, champagne while we were taxi'ing around. Multi course meals; there were so many meals that I was too full to partake in the midnight snack. Cheese course is an option for dessert, and it fucking looks like an epic cheese plate; I'll get one on the way back to show ya'll

After we landed in Dubai, we hit up the Emirates lounge. I only took pics of a few things, but spread was HUGE.

Connecting flight...this is a 3 hour flight mind you. Food this time sucked, so here's a note to you all: never get seafood on a flight. My gut instinct was correct - stick to the chicken. At least the chicken korma was tender.

oh yeah, Emirates has cameras on the nose and the bottom of the plane. Christmas lights in action (not nearly as cool as Dubai lights. Dubai = multicolored awesomeness. Hyderabad = white white white)

I'm staying at the Westin. Clientele here is 90% english speaking with 80% from America (it seems like)

typical Westin:

I wanted to get out of the hotel and see how the other side lived. I walked through the truly ghetto areas of this side of Hyderabad (ie where the dirt poor laborers lived). This is where I saw guys pissing openly, feral dogs everywhere, and other signs of incredible poverty. I didn't want to take pictures cuz I didn't want to be a complete ass.

This is actually "good" scaffolding compared to some of the stuff I see:

Looks awesome. What's up with the fancy buildings, and dirt(?) roads? Are those areas finished, or are they still fixing it up?

No idea. Many of those dirt roads are around the labour camps, which are right near the fancy buildings and shit.

ALL of those dirt roads are on gMaps (thank god for iOS5 :D fuck you god for iOS6 )

hyderbadi goat, lamb, or chicken biryani is teh best. try it!

I had mutton biryani earlier. The tandoori chicken and naan the consultant had next to me looked fooking amazing. I'll probably have that tomorrow.

Unfortunately (for the picture, not for the flavor), mutton is buried under all that rice.

I've never been, but friends say that there is always construction in various phases of completion, but most is incomplete. I've seen pics of office buildings that have been 98% complete for years, just needing a sidewalk or facia or completed restrooms that doesn't get done for some reason.

Well, I was in the "labour camp" area of town so...I saw guys pissing out in the street, feral/stray dogs (actually quite friendly), etc.

Be careful with the dogs. Rabies kills a horrifying number of people in India every year.

I've never been to that city but one thing I did in Mumbai was hired a cab from about 4am until 10am. Cost about $20. I had him drive me all over the city while I picked up some train tickets and just watched the city. The thing is in Mumbai all the sidewalks are covered in sleeping people at night. Then watching them wake up and the city come alive was amazing. If you can't sleep one night try it out. To this day the happiest couple I've ever seen were in India and they were living on the street.
