I really like the PocketPCs, but my picture of an ideal handheld would be one that can surf the net completely wirelessly. You don't have to be close to any wireless ethernet connection, no phoneline to plug in, no cell-phone to utilize with - just the pocketpc itself and the net connection.
As I understand it, and I'd be very happy if anyone can correct me if I'm wrong since I want this, the pocketpcs do not have this ability. You need to be close to some other connection and utilize it in order to gain a net connection on your own pocketpc. I ask this because in japan, they have this little half-sized business card PC card module with a tiny antenna that you raise that can do exactly this. So for laptops, you just plug that little module in, and you can surf the net from anywhere.
Is there anything like that out for the pocketpc and if not, anything like that coming out?
Also, can you surf any webpage on a pocketpc? Or does it only work with pages specially made to be seen on a pocketpc?
Not that I can afford a pocketpc anytime soon, but a guy can still fantasize.
