I'm hurt ... laid up for a while....

Just got home from the Hospital. I had a Full size tractor trailer with a 48 foot rail can at 30,000 + run my right lower leg/ankle/foot over.

Was trying to help the driver release the handle on the Fifth wheel as he moved forward. The release handle was stuck at about half open. I was pulling on the handle and the truck popped loose. Pulled me forward and made me take a step with my right leg right into the path of the moving rig.

Happened very fast. Truck ran up and stopped right on top of my lower leg/ankle/foot. Very lucky that only my foot was broken. But I have major damage to all the soft tissue including calf. Might have tendon and ligament damage though. Will find out with MRI.

I can be at my computer though leg elevated/iced.

I'll be laid up for a while.

I refused pain meds including morphine as I don't do well on pain meds. Former drug history here but many moons ago.

I had something simular happen to a friend recently. 'cept it ran over him and he got stuck between the duals. He died.

I was very lucky ... indeed. I could have been much worse and even deadly. Working around full sized Freight trucks is dangerous.

i got ran over last year at work, a load on a palletjack 3200lbs worth and a forklift pushing it in the building, my foot got caught between the 2 tires while i was steering it, rolled up over my foot/leg. so i have all that on my foot and it was upright. need less to say it fractured my heel. this was Feb 04, just had surgery on it last month. now in a fracture boot. i feel you, i got in a lot of gaming though =)

I was driving up Alameda around 10th St. in Los Angeles this morning and saw the aftermath of a young guy who swung out around a semi, into the painted center divider, only to find another semi parked right in front of him. :Q

Deader than a fvcking doornail slumped over the steering wheel.

Those little rice cars just don't stand up to a Peterbilt.

Just got a call from the hospital where I was treated. After reviewing the x-rays it looks like there is a fracture in my foot after all. Going to have to see a orthopedic surgeon .... they ( the hospital Docs ) didn't think it looked bad enough for any pins but then again .... well we'll see.
