I'm homeless and I've lived in my Honda Fit for months. Ask me anything.

Where have you been parking at? Still in China? Any pics of your living space?

It's also kind of ironic that someone who does real estate photos is homeless.

I thought you were lost in China

I was in China from Oct 1 to Jan ~15

How'd you get homeless in the first place?

Showering at the gym?

I used to live in Mountain View, CA. Then I lived for half a year in Honolulu. Then went to China for 4 months backpacking. When I got back to Mountain View I didn't want to get a steady place because I wanted to constantly be up in the mountains skiing and not having to pay rent for a place I wasn't staying at.

PLUS, and most importantly, I don't want to sign a lease because I'm buying a motorcycle soon and, after figuring out how to fix it, I'm gonna start on my world motorcycle tour which will last more than 3 years I'd imagine.

So actually I am planning on being homeless for many, MANY more years to come.

When one makes an argument one must be prepared to defend that argument.

This is just plain right out of a bad movie script.

The Fit makes a much better living accommodation than a motorcycle would, 'cept maybe a Goldwing.

So your business is on autopilot? How will you conduct your business when you're in an area without cellphone reception?

So you're following the path of Jim Rogers. I admire your courage and adventure.

I'll take it that your small business ventures haven't worked out all that well.

No, they have. We're doing 20% more sales this year as compared to last year and we need to start going national this year.

Not in China anymore. Parking is easy. Street parking in quiet neighborhoods. The back of the parking lot at Safeway or Walmart. Parks are generally fine. Ask the locals where to park. Even ask the police.

how are you paying for this?

My business which I manage remotely.

So you are a ski bum? How do you make money for a motorcycle insurance and food?

My business. I'm saving more by being homeless, obviously, as well. Yeah, I ski. Although I wish I skied more.

Thanks! Not entirely on autopilot. There are a lot of strategic and operational things that I have to oversee. The actual in the field labor is on autopilot.

When I plan to be in an area I either make myself available via WiFi a few times a day (cafes, hostels, hotels) or tell my trusted partner to take over for a bit.

Not quite... I'm not hitchhiking. I want to experience as much as I can, which means to me covering a lot of ground. Hitchhiking can't do that. And I need to be able to relocate to a place with internet at a moment's notice if I need to. Again, something that's very inconvenient for a hitchhiker.

I pick them up though.

SHOWERS:

Everyone asks about this.

In the US, a 24 Hour Fitness membership can get you showers. So can AirBnB and hostels and some inquiring around.

Right now I get to use the common area of a hostel, the fast internet, the kitchen, the dining room, the fridge, the bathroom, and shower, all for $10 a day because I go sleep in my car every night.

I've negotiated the same deal in a place in Silicon Valley, but that's even better because there is a power line going into my car at night from their garage so I can still work and watch movies in my car whenever I want. This is all in an area (Stanford) where the rents are $1000+ a month, easy.

BATHROOMS:

Public restrooms are easy - Safeways are open 24/7 around here. Grocery stores. Gas stations. It gets inconvenient when it's 5AM in the morning and you have to go take a pee, because normally you're parked on a street with houses around and you don't feel like firing up the car to drive to a bathroom. And you can't just stand out and pee in the neighborhood.

So I have a pee bottle. Pee inside the car into the bottle. Then open the car door and dump the contents into the drain on the road. Takes 5 seconds. No one notices. Go back to sleep.
