Lack of money can make you sad but...
New job, new car, same level of content as before.

So much for material things.

LOL, you're still in school.

Ya think that saying just materialized out of nowhere? Of course money does not make you happy. Only YOU can make YOU happy.

Happiness is an overrated notion that only fools and sages strive to achieve.

The key to happiness with your money is making sure you have just enough not to worry about paying your bills. If you make a lot but spend more you will be much more miserable than if you make little but spend less. People get used to indulgences, you just have to keep them less than your income. Learn to appreciate what you have first, then upgrade when you can easily. Remember its harder to go back.

Money solves a lot of problems that contribute to sadness/depression -- overwhelming debt, inability to feed yourself and your family, lack of self-confidence -- but it does not contribute directly to happiness.

I graduated in May. I'm a real engineer now.

And actually, to be honest, money can buy happiness. That happiness is called Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil, ...

Excuse me? You are not a real engineer now, and what you just said is against the law. In order to be considered an Engineer in most states (read: all), you are required to have your P.E. license. You don't have that yet if you just graduated.

My favorite saying is...

"Money wont make you happy, but it sure as hell takes the edge off misery."

Technically, I will be a System Engineer in December, and will have my PE in 4 years, since I passed the FE and already have 1 year experience.

I don't think a PE is worth much unless you are designing buildings, roads, or other public structures. No one needs a PE to design a CPU, for instance.

I passed the F.E. and graduated with an engineering degree from an accredited university. Believe me, it is a big deal in the realm of engineering.

I'm not sure I know anyone with this P.E. license thing that you speak of. Most of us here have PhDs, though. Are we real engineers?? :D

I've been out of school for less than three years, but there are over 100 papers with my name on them published in peer reviewed journals and conferences, I have a senior title in the IEEE, there are three degrees hanging on my wall, and they just gave me a plaque this afternoon to reward me for my second patent. My boss is gonna be pissed when I tell him I'm not really an engineer! :D

Find something to do then. If you have so much money, head over to AVS forum and Head-Fi. You could be in debt within a few hours
