Hello all, I just got on the F@H wagon, just in case you guys needed some help. As soon as I get a 4 port KVM switch, I can bring three other machines online to do some work also. Anyone have suggestions about my sig? It's currently linked to the stats page. Should I also link to the page at AT? Cheers!

Welcome to TeAm Anandtech!

You could check into a program called Real VNC until you get a KVM. It allows you to remotely access a computer over a network 🙂

how would that work with booting without a keyboard on my old dual PPro running linux? I'm not real linux savvy as of yet, but I'm looking to use this machine to get that way. I think I heard of a 'nohead' option or a network boot, but have no idea how to implement such a thing. Any help from you linux gurus would be awesome!

Glad to have you on the TeAm, HappyCracker. You'll receive an official welcome in the stats thread upon completion of your first work unit. 😎

VNC on Linux is actually pretty cool (it's cooler than VNC on Windows anyway), because you can have a remote desktop that is separate from any X desktop that is running on the actual video card / monitor of the computer itself (kind of like Terminal Services in Windows NT/2K/2K3 Server). I still prefer SSH for remote administration of Linux and BSD-based systems. 😉
