Guy bought it and never used it - left his wife - wife sold it for 30 bucks - they go for 99 to 120 online. . .

I needed a lawnmower too - as I broke my last gas powered one. I paid a guy other week 30 to mow my yard. . .now I don't have to :p

I just mowed the whole yard, and it works awesome :)

When I mow the lawn with the gas mower, it kicks up all sorts of everything and my allergies damn near kill me. Would one of these kick up less into the air with the way they work? I'm going to be screwed anyway, but less screwed is better than more screwed. I might pick one of these up instead of paying some sap to do it.

OP mentioned recently-abandoned, available, and potentially desperate wife.

Yes and No. Yes, it will not kick up as much pollen/grass/etc. However, unless you're mowing a short amount of grass, you'll find yourself having to rake-up the grass clippings which might negate the impact of the reel mower kicking-up less pollen/grass/etc.

fwiw - the grass catchers available for reel mowers all suck, unfortunately.

I have the 20" Scotts...there is a bag you can use...see cleanairgardening.com for details. Not much dust/pollen gets raised compared to a gas mower. I bought mine just for the exercise and peace and quiet. I have had it 2 years now.
