I had the hookup for like 3 yrs. I was paying 40 bucks and some change for Digital Cable (all the premium channels), Cable internet service, and digital cable. My bro in law will be leaving the cable company which means I have to pay full price now.

Guess it was good while it lasted:)

during the school year i have "free" cable tv and ~5mbit internet, but over the summer i get 24k dialup and broadcast tv only.

and i have to agree somewhat that tv is a waste of money. when i get to the point where ill have to pay for cable/satellite tv, i doubt i will.

you might not have to, they will probably forget that the deal should end and just keep giving you the discount. i know a guy this happened to

Grandma was getting cinemax for free. she called them up to tell them to take it off. They stopped charging her for it, but noone came to disconnect it. 2 years later she still has it.

I'm confused...

I think TV is well worth it. I pay over $100/month for digital cable, HBO/Showtime/Movie Channel, and 3Mbit internet service. Worth every penny. That's why I work so hard, to make enough to enjoy myself.

It is simple, he just had the conclusion at the beginning of the paragraph. Something like this may have been clearer:

His grandma got Cinemax for free. How did that happen? Easy. She was paying for it, but decided to cancel. She called them up to tell them to take it off. They stopped charging her for it but two years later she still has it. Thus it is free.

See what happens when you watch TV all the time? You get easily confused.
